  • Creighton is the only NCAA Division-I men's basketball team with a Bluejay as its mascot.
  • During the 2006-2007 season, the average attendance at a Creighton men's basketball home game was 15,909, which was good enough for 13th in the nation.
  • From 1961-2003, the Creighton men's basketball team played their home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The "Civic" remained home to the Creighton women's basketball and volleyball teams until 2009, when the school opened the on-campus D. J. Sokol Arena. The "Civic" was closed in 2014 and demolished in 2016.
  • Benoit Benjamin is the only player in Creighton men's basketball team history to have recorded a Triple-double in a single game.
  • A Bluejays basketball great who went on to major success outside the sport was Bob Gibson, who completed his Creighton career in 1957 as the school's third-leading scorer. He briefly played for the Harlem Globetrotters, but turned his attention to baseball, where he became a legendary pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and was inducted into that sport's Hall of Fame at his first opportunity in 1981.
